The Fireside Bowl that I remember from the Nineties was more of a venue to see live shows (Punk, mostly) than a place to actually bowl. It is now back to being a bowling alley again from what I hear. This area around Fullerton and California has seen a lot of growth in the last decade.

Just an old furniture store sign on Milwaukee Ave. near Logan Square. These elaborate signs from Chicago’s glorious past may soon disappear as gentrification continues here. Growth is good, but erasing history is not.

Snow covered chess board on a cold January day. This is located right next to the Logan Square station. In the warmer months, locals would hang out here. On this day it was all by its lonesome.

Nothing is more iconic than Schwinn bicycles are to Chicago. My dad worked at the original factory on Kostner Ave. for over thirty years. It’s great to see people still finding these old bikes and fixing them up. They were very well built. It’s a fixture around Logan Square that’s for sure.
