During the summer of 1998, I was on this kick of photographing neon signs. I was out riding around with my friend Pat one evening when this caught my eye. The Fish Keg is located on Howard Street in the Chicago neighborhood of Rogers Park. It is at the city’s northern limits. It’s still around– same sign and everything. Its one of the few places in the city that you can buy seafood from an independent retailer.

I had just got off the #56 Milwaukee bus when I saw the Logan Theater sign lit up. All things pointed to a potential photograph here so I kindly obliged!

Another neon gem from the Lakeview neighborhood on Lincoln Avenue. It’s the classic mid twentieth century drug store sign.

Dinkel’s bakery first opened in 1922 and has been at the same Lakeview location ever since. Walking up Lincoln Avenue, one cannot miss that glorious neon sign.
