The hand painted billboard–once a staple on buildings before 1970. This is one of the many fading examples. Broadway near Devon.

I must have past this old TV repair shop a billion times and only recently did I have a chance to photograph it. It’s located in the sleepy Edgebrook neighborhood, far up north in the city (intersections of Devon, Central and Caldwell Avenues). I remember when every neighborhood had one of these. Times have changed.

Nothing is more iconic than Schwinn bicycles are to Chicago. My dad worked at the original factory on Kostner Ave. for over thirty years. It’s great to see people still finding these old bikes and fixing them up. They were very well built. It’s a fixture around Logan Square that’s for sure.

This is the other side of the street from my previous post: 900 Block of Belmont Looking West. On this side of the street, is where all the action on Saturday night was. The kids coming to and from Meduas’s would congregate along here back in the late 80’s. There were always interesting characters hanging around here.

Another view looking downward from the Brown Line station platform. Kerouac Jack’s is long gone. I always loved the lighting in this shot. It’s geometrical as well.
